Morning Ronald! How is your week going so far? I have been busier than usual lately with another French rep quit on us last week!! So now i am the only French rep for our European and Canadian market....Busy, busy...BTW, i don't know if you like MARIAH CAREY? She is releasing her 1994 XMAS ALBUM with new tracks....i think that will be a gift i will ask my mates to buy me for XMAS!! Have a great day...Never heard of QUEEN NINA before you mentioned it...Nice track..Going to check on wikipedia her discography....have a great day...

Hi Thierry, so far my week goes well. Busy but not too busy. The only French rep means all the translations from French to English rests on your shoulders.... I can imagine that means you are indeed busier than usual. Hopefully they'll find a replacement for the one who left.

MARIAH CAREY: I'm not a big fan of hers. Only like a couple of singles but I really do like her festive hit "ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS" because it gives me the right Christmas vibes! Just like LAST CHRISTMAS and DRIVING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS. The last one is my all time favourite! So I won't buy her latest album but will stream it on Spotify instead.

It is not QUEEN NINA but simply NINA. She comes from Germany, lives in London nowadays and releases synthpop music. One of my favourite music genres because it sounds so 80's. She is not well known but I started following her a couple of years ago. Met her once, have all her physical releases and all of them signed by her. I try to promote her as much as possible through my webpage and Facebook and Twitter. I just love her voice and style (and yes, my new profile pic is the cover art for her new single).

Perhaps you have heard her before in this 2015 ad for Mercedes Benz:

She is Nina Gerhard!! The voice of the fantastic DANCE MUSIC german pop band of the 90's: CAPTAIN HOLLYWOOD PROJECT!! i didn't know that...I love that band: MORE AND MORE and of course ONLY WITH YOU...I am a huge fan of the kind of music: CULTURE BEAT, ICE MC, CORO, HADDAWAY, CENTORY, CASCADA etc....love it, love it...

Hi Thierry, glad you like her music too! Recommending her best songs is difficult for a fan like me because I like all of her music. I really do! So the best thing to do is check out her bandcamp page and listen to her releases. I do recommend her album SLEEPWALKING though, it was released on CD and on vinyl. But I fear the CD is no longer available... Can't wait for her new album that'll be released soon!

SANDRA / ENIGMA / MODERN TALKING are artists / bands I already follow and love a lot. I just love that German sound!!!

No, she isn't.... Her name is NINA BOLDT. But I do understand the mix up!

I like most of those bands too but only the big hits. The only exception being CULTURE BEAT. They released a couple of great albums too!

By the way, there is one NINA song that is my favourite so far: 80's GIRL. A song about her mother. Gorgeous song and lyrics. There is this fun 80's movies compilation on youtube that I like featuring this song.

Morning Ronald...OMG, Culture Beat: they are my favourite as well!! And you are right: they have released 2 great albums...more but i have got and never sold it...SERENITY AND INSIDE OUT...To be honest even though INSIDE OUT was much less successful, it is much better in term of quality..it may not have a "MR VAIN" in it but the quality of the overall album is higher than SERENITY...I think they should have never released INSIDE OUT as a first single from the album...it was definitely one of their weakest song ther released...TAKE ME AWAY, WALK THE SAME LINE, GET IT RIGHT would have better as a lead single...but gosh i just love TANIA EVANS, the main female lead singer...they have changed the front lead so many times!! what about 2 UNLIMITED, they are from your beautiful country!! They were good!! just love TRIBAL DANCE!! They both were so gorgeous and so good live as well...Enjoy your week end...and let me listen to NINA...

Good afternoon Thierry!

You are totally spot on concerning CULTURE BEAT! MR VAIN is awesome and WALK THE SAME LINE was an excellent single from INSIDE OUT. Too many changes in line up made me lose interest eventualy because the sound got weaker and weaker.

2 UNLIMITED came from the Netherlands but were managed in Belgium and that is why they were considered a Belgian band for a long long time. I really liked a lot of their singles. ANITA DOTH had a great voice, I wish she would release a solo album one day. My favourite 2 UNLIMITED singles are NOTHING LIKE THE RAIN and DO WHAT'S GOOD FOR ME.

Have a nice weekend!

Morning Ronald! How are you today? BTW i have just noticed that Duncan Lawrence new single is climbing the charts!! He is at 28 in the Netherlands but as well in Belgium, at number 6! His new single may not flop actually...I do hope not...It isn't as strong as ARCADE but still a good single...Have a great day..

Hi Thierry,

I'm fine today, busy day ahead! Hope you are fine too!
It all depends on which chart you check in the Netherlands.
We have 2 national charts but they are very different.
Haven't got a clue why.

In the Top 40 DUNCAN is at #28 now.
https://www.top40.nl/top40

In the Top 100 he is at #59 now...
https://dutchcharts.nl/weekchart.asp?cat=s

Same difference for LIZZO.
Top 40: #34
Top 100: #54

I prefer the Top 40 though!

Hello Ronald! How are you today? Did you start your Xmas shopping? BTW who will you like to be our UK number 1 Xmas song this year? I do hope it will be for once a Festive song not another one from the X factor!! I can't stand that kind of show...What about in Holland? Do Mariah, Wham or The Pogues enter the single chart? Have a wonderful day...

Hi Thierry,

No Christmas shopping yet, that is something I do a couple of days before Christmas. In Holland we first have another thing called SINTERKLAAS on December 5. More something for kids but it means that the true Christmas spirit isn't really felt before December 6.... SINTERKLAAS is not the same as SANTA CLAUS. This old Saint comes from Turkey but lives in Spain and arrives by boat. A typical Dutch tradition...

I do hope that a real Christmas song will be the UK #1 this Christmas. I do not care who it is going to be as long as it is Christmassy... MARIAH CAREY / WHAM / CHRIS REA (my favourite!) / KYLIE (if only) / ROBBIE WILLIAMS / EARTHA KITT / NAT KING COLE. Or even the latest WILL YOUNG single! As long as BAND AID or THE POGUES do not reach #1 I am a happy man.

In Holland we hardly ever have a Christmas song at #1 (last year we had!). But the Dutch Single Top 100 is filled with a lot of Christmas songs each year. Mostly the same artists as in the UK.

Last year we had the following artists in the Top 100 (top position between brackets):

MARIAH CAREY (1) / WHAM (4) / MICHAEL BUBLÉ (7) / ARIANA GRANDE (8) / CHRIS REA (9) / ANDY WILLIAMS (10) / BAND AID (11) / PAUL McCARTNEY (13) / JOHN & YOKO (15) / JUSTIN BIEBER (20) / BOBBY HELMS (21) / MICHAEL BUBLé (24) / QUEEN (26) / JOSÉ FELICIANO (29) / SAM SMITH (30) / DEAN MARTIN (31) / MARIAH CAREY (32) / KELLY CLARKSON (33) / FRANK SINATRA (37) / THE RONETTES (38) / BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN (39) / ELVIS PRESLEY (40) / COLDPLAY (42) / MICHAEL BUBLÉ (46) / NAT KING COLE (49) / HALL & OATES (50) / ARIANA GRANDE & LIZ GILLIES (53) / BRETT ELDREDGE & MEGHAN TRAINOR (55) / TONY BENNETT (57) / SHAKIN' STEVENS (58) / SLADE (61) / BRITNEY SPEARS (63) / DONNY HATHAWAY (67) / TRAIN (68) / PERRY COMO (69) / JONA LEWIE (70) / SIA (74) / MEGHAN TRAINOR (79) / THE POGUES & KIRTSY MacCOLL (80) / BONEY M (83) / MICHAEL BUBLÉ (85) / MICHAEL BUBLÉ & THE PUPPINI SISTERS (86) / MICHAEL BUBLÉ & SHANIA TWAIN (87) / THE PRETENDERS (94).

Right now MARIAH CAREY (52) and WHAM (82) have already entered the top 100!
