Astounds me how many legacy artists there are in the charts these days.

Hmm. Methinks it's those compilations being added to streaming playlists as a shortcut to get the greatest hits, hence racking up the (ahem) 'effective sales'. I suspect if we see the same charts from about 2-3 years ago, a good 40-60% will be the same. Pretty good chance those legacy acts will be there more or less forever now.

It'll be interesting to see the effect the rest of the year has. A lot of big albums to come. 2 big questions : will Adele pull everything off streaming again to drive demand / sales of the new product - and if not, what sort of figures will it generate?

Yeah but thass wot keeps me goin all them legacy artists not them autotune singers who can't sing on ere. Thass why I'm doin a new top 10 autotune singers chart, there the ones wot old their noses n sing like iss a nasal sahnd, watch ahrt fot it next week. Dua Lipa will be igh up.

The autotune thing is mostly because of streaming. Its a cheap and efficient way for record labels to make music fast that will get streamed as opposed to doing multiple retakes in a studio. It leaves the listener feeling a little dissatisfied. Gradually the top 100 albums will fill up more and more with legacy artists as the public will get tired of whats happening right now. A bit like too many Avengers moves! :

Yeah but thass wot them singers sing like nahadays, ow many of them do live concerts or if they do they pinch their nose when singin n you've got the new autotune music on ere.

On top of another #1 album, Sam Fender also got his first ever Top 40 single with the title track from it this week!

Huge congratulations to him. :)

I didn;t expect LADY GAGA and TONY to drop that fast on their 2nd week! I love GAGA but not pleased when she released that kind of material with TONY: not really my cup of tea!
