This chart is a load of streamed in pish, it’s not at all genuine whatsoever, sales chart is much more realistic than this

BMTH back to making terrible music.

Still Corners still go unnoticed in their native country - 'The Last Exit' needs to be at least in the top 20

Can’t find Light For The World in the midweeks but then they made Holly Willoughby cry on This Morning and look at the result. Yet this album always had huge potential in the current lockdown.

Seeing Neil Diamond's best-ofs sitting alongside Elton John's best-of Diamonds in the chart in recent weeks makes a small part of me wish Neil had named a collection Johns, for symmetry's sake...

The longevity of most of these albums is insane, especially Shoot For The Stars.

Never thought I’d see Pop Smoke get this big, shame he had to die for it.

Although it’s weird that none of these are from this year, and most are from early 2020.

It's based on what I call "Chart Impact Points" (#1 gets 75 points, #2 = 74 down etc. to 1pt for #75). It's a method that benefits records that have been on chart from because it would take a new entry 4 weeks at #1 to be 6 points outside the top 10 if they all dropped out. That said, the album chart is particularly slow moving. Some stats you may be interested in:

There are 117 hit albums this year (just 20 new entries, 36 re-entries and 61 hangovers). Hangovers were on chart in both week 52 of 2020 and week 1 of 2021.

Just 8.5% of Chart Impact Points and 17% of hits are by new entries, so not only are there more old albums so far, the old albums are also bigger hits on average than the new ones. Especially when a #1 drops out of the top 100!

51 of the current top 75 have been on chart for all 5 weeks of th year so far. (over 2/3rds)

The biggest 2021 release is Barry Gibb's solo album with 222 CIPs, 2nd is Passenger with 150 - equivalent to 2 weeks at #1. Oddly, both have 3 weeks on chart rather than 4.

It's a similar pattern on the Singles chart too, but less extreme bias to older records.
Queen have the serious longevity. I'm surprised how high it is this year. It's been bouncing around the top 40 for literally decaades.

who was number 1 last week guys? i can't see it ..don't think it already dropped from the Top 100?!

it was the new You Me at Six album. it was probably because of physical pre-orders on the internet finally coming through and leading to a big debut week then falling after, that's my guess with most of the times this happens on the album chart.

I really wanted BICEP to claim the number 1 spot but at least their new album charted much higher in Ireland than BMTH, so that is something!!

I didn’t really mind, both of them are amazing albums to be honest, although I think I slightly prefer Bring Me The Horizon’s.
