I dont understand or want to all this streaming downloading etc.It just does not seem to count anymore.Would Ed Sheeran ,Drake,Rihanna ,Adele etc domuinate like they do if peope had to go out and buy a disc instead of just sitting at home and clicking a button.Elvis, the Beatles, the Stones and even Cliff Richard achieved greatness the hard way. Please dont take this is denigrating modern artists in any way it is just the way the charts are now compiled.Look also at how Billboard wrote off most of Elvis' achievements by moving the stats from 1956 to 1958 as the starting point for their top 100 chart thereby cutting out is major years. What does that say for their stats.

Are you a complete idiot?????? People don't flock to Ed Sheeran because they think hes the only musician out there, they listen to him because he is a great musician. Don't devalue his achievements because you are too stupid to understand album sales these day's. He made it to no2 on the album chart without a record label, that shows you his effort and ability which is why people like him. If you think it is easier for an artist to stay at the top of the chart today than it was when the beatles were around then you really should do some research and let your brain learn. When people can now stream music on YouTube without buying an artists record, thus meaning their album sales are not as high as they should, with bootlegging music now three clicks away and so easy a child can do it. With the amount of artists and bands in the world astronomically greater than when Elvis and the Beatles were around. There are countless reasons why it is harder for artists today than it was back then. do some research before you spew you stupidity into the world

I was not meaning it is easier for the artists today just that it is easier for people to obtain their music.I have to hold my hands up about my lack of research.I did not do any.It is just my old fashion view.Ed Sheeran is a great musician and deserving of his success.

Hi Dave...Its normal for dominant popular artists to hold number one.....Elvis,The Beatles,T Rex,Abba and so on...........enjoying things that are popular is not a crime so to call people sheep is very childish as choice in music is very personal........I enjoy a large amount of music that does not chart and never see music as an Olympic competition so I would suggest that you consider your insults to peoples choice in music with care as your choice in music may not be others but what does it matter.......let us just bathe in the beauty of choice of Ed,Steps and all other who have the ability to vocally entertain us over all the years gone and the many to come
