He was from an era where white signers were given black artists songs and the recognition and royalties went to them even Eminem knew this and even put that fact on one of his raps and load's of music films even mentioned this fact so no he did nothing that changed the music scene really he was there at the right time sinatra was a real artist

avatar

Constantijn Zantingh

"Given" or "Stolen" - NO WAY! Elvis loved black music! He tried "That's All Right" and turned it into a new style. They didn't call him to sing a song like that... please, read your history books. And when Eminem sings about something we can take it as a fact??? LOL. Well, search on YouTube and the Sun Studio's and you'll find the real story probably.

Without Elvis, people like Dylan, the Beatles, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen - to name only a few - would never have had a career in music. Now as for Dylan, he may have written many songs, but he never sang any of them. Unless you call that singing...

Rubbish! Elvis never wrote his own stuff, was a racist and actually couldn't sing. I've never heard anyone slaughter a cover version quite like he when a covered Bridge Over Troubled Water...FACT

Are you and Alexander brothers??? Please, read some books and see what Elvis has done... "racist" and "couldn't sing"... what a joke!

Ignorance and jealousy. Elvis was the greatest singer/performer who ever lived. Even Paul Simon thought Elvis' version was better. Elvis was also the best looking man who ever lived. FACT.

There is one album on the British album charts this week that contains music that revolutionised composition and recording technology, with music that will still be played 50 years from now when all the other albums on this weeks chart have been long forgotten. That album is '1' by the Beatles. It is the biggest selling global album of the 21st Century and contains 27 No1 hits that are all classics from a time when music really was important.

avatar

Constantijn Zantingh

4

Don't forget Elvis... born in 1935... and now 2 weeks at number 1... 38th years after and still not forgotten...

T

Thomas

1

This whole message just screams "I was born in the wrong generation". Music IS still important and there's a sh*tload of excellent music out there, you just need to actually look for it because the charts is full of dumbed-down club trash fed to the idiot masses. Don't be one of them, actually make the effort to find talented artists instead of relying on old hits. There are bands out there who can do far, far more than The Beatles were ever capable of, trust me.

avatar

Anthony Martin Bailey

1

If you can find the band that can do more than the Beatles did then please contact me ASAP. I would love to manage that band.

avatar

Jamie Mears

1

Easy answer... Queen obviously, or the guy at #1 although he isn't a "band"

Would you like more??

AR

Andreas Roth

2

Yes, and without Elvis, neither the Beatles nor Bob Dylan would even have an album on this chart in the first place. By extension, the same goes for Michael Jackson.

avatar

drew

0

He has a lot to answer for then.

Anthony Martin Bailey

I love Queen. And Queen loved the Beatles. But Queen did not have the social and cultural impact of the Beatles. And Queen did not revolutionise music composition which has now resulted in Lennon and McCartney music being taught at degree level in University. Queen were a great band who wrote some great songs. Elvis was a great singer, but I would not compare his musicianship or signwriting abilities to Lennon and McCartney who are officially the most successful composers in history. The point is this - you stated that there are bands out there who can do far, far more than the Beatles were capable of. Please let me know the name of this new band. I would love to manage it.

absolute garbage charts. dylan at 12 with music that changed the face of music and the king of corny cheesy granny music at 1, just add an orchestra to like a rolling stone and see how amazing it does.

Yeah sounds like you really know your music history - I´m not a big Elvis fan but the facts speak for themselves. Over one billion sold albums (MUCH more than anyone else) and no 1 38 years after his death. But what the heck - one billion idiots you know... Jesus!

A

Alexander

0

i own 6000 plus cds have been to over 500 concerts and like a much wider variety of music than most people. sales been a measure of quality i take it that you own albums by the monkees, the osmonds, gary glitter, boney m. yes sales been the thing when it suits you. an album by the so called king of rock n roll with an orchestra. how rca must love that he died young. they really have milked it ever since. listen to some chet baker or try a bit of hank williams then wash it down with the original carter family recordings. dont lecture me on music ive forgotten more than youll ever know about music.

You`re something special! My favourite is without any doubt Bob Dylan and as I said I´m not a big Elvis fan. Our idol Bob D said this about Elvis: "When I first heard Elvis' voice I just knew that I wasn't going to work
for anybody; and nobody was going to be my boss...Hearing him for the first
time was like busting out of jail. The highlight of my career? That's easy, elvis recording one of my songs."

name me all the classic songs he wrote well this legend what did he write, can any of yous name any songs he wrote. no cause he hardly if ever wrote one song. so he is a legend like people who wrote and created and made and discovered and created. funny legend is one who creates or produces or makes. without songwriters and producers behind him what did he do. funny how none of yous big fans can name anything he wrote.

I wish Little Mix went number 1 in the whole UK. But on the bright side, at least they're number 1 in Ireland!

Plus Ellie Goulding's "Delirium" went number 1 in Belgium, so at least I can say both of my favorite albums peaked at number 1!

A

Alexander

at least we have sense. talk about rubbish by someone who barely wrote a lyric much less a song. king yeah as in burger king.

I am not an Elvis fan but it is a good day for music that Little Mix did not go to number 1.
