The fight for the iconic UK Christmas Number 1 takes to the big screen this year, in Sky's new festive film A Christmas Number 1 (see, we told you).

Starring Game of Thrones' Iwan Rheon and featuring new original music composed by pop hitmaker Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue), A Christmas Number 1 follows the exploits of fictional boyband 5 Together, who are desperate for a hit following the flop of their most recent album.

Fresh from a break-up with the biggest pop star in the world, music manager Meg (Freida Pinto) is tasked by the boys' label to get them to Christmas Number 1 - the most important and coveted chart result of the year.

Meg teams up with musician Blake Cutter (Rheon) to write 5 Together's burgeoning festive classic...but can they reach the top of the charts and revive the boys' career? Watch the trailer for the film below.

MORE: Every Christmas Number 1, ever!

This is all fictionalised, of course, but in real life the race for Christmas Number 1 remains the UK's most hotly-contested chart battle of the year. Last year, LadBaby became only the third act - after The Beatles and Spice Girls - to earn three consecutive UK Christmas Number 1s. But can they do it for a fourth time and break that long-held record? They have a lot of competition to worry about...

The 2021 Official Christmas Number 1 will be announced on Friday, December 24. The full Christmas Top 40 will be counted down on BBC Radio 1's Official Chart from 4pm.

The full Top 100 Official Christmas Singles Chart and Albums Chart will be published on OfficialCharts.com from 5.45pm.
