Top Of The Pops to reveal this year’s Christmas Number 1

Rather than having to wait ‘til 7PM to find out the 2011 Official Christmas Number 1 single, this year’s chart countdown will feature in a special festive edition of Top Of The Pops.

As previously revealed by the Official Charts Company, this year’s Christmas Number 1 will be announced on Christmas Day. However, rather than having to wait ‘til 7PM to find out the 2011 Official Christmas Number 1 single, the winner of this year’s festive chart battle will be announced in a special edition of Top Of The Pops on BBC1.

The hour long show will be hosted by Radio 1 DJs Fearne Cotton and Reggie Yates.

"I'm so happy Top Of The Pops is back for another Christmas special," said Cotton. “It's a wonderful tradition that I'm so proud to be part of. Great bands, live music and a sprinkling of fake snow thrown in to the mix! It'll be lovely teaming up with my old mate Reggie Yates again, too. See you Christmas Day!"

"Hosting the yearly specials of Top Of The Pops with Fearne Cotton is one of the highlights of my year, it’s always such a thrill to present such a loved show," added Yates.

Top Of The Pops will be broadcast between 2 and 3PM on BBC 1. The show will feature live performances from The Wanted, Pixie Lott, Example, Professor Green and Emeli Sande, Ed Sheeran, Olly Murs, Rizzle Kicks, The Vaccines, Will Young, Noah And The Whale and the winner of this year’s X Factor.
