Tom Odell sings on this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert - watch

Tom Odell has been unveiled as the voice of this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert.

The 23 year old Ivor Novello winner performs a cover of The Beatles’ Real Love for the clip which follows a little boy and his friend Monty the penguin. Real Love peaked at Number 4 on the Official Singles Chart back in 1996 (released as part of The Beatles' Anthology project), while Tom topped the Official Albums Chart in 2013 with debut release Long Way Down, featuring Top 10 single Another Love.

2013’s advert, The Bear & The Hare has now had over 13 million views on YouTube and saw Lily Allen’s cover of Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know storm to the Number 1 spot last November.

The last male voice to feature on the John Lewis ad was The Guillemots singer Fyfe Dangerfield, who performed Billy Joel’s She’s Always A Woman for the 2010’s clip.
