Tolu Makay is on course to make her first appearance on the Official Irish Singles Chart with her cover of The Saw Doctors' N17 with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.

Nigerian-Irish singer-songwriter Tolu was joined by the orchestra as part of RTÉ One's New Year's Eve TV coverage, the performance praised by the likes of Graham Norton for its poignancy.

Following the response to the broadcast, Tolu released the recording as an official single last Tuesday (Jan. 19) via Rubyworks, and now it is set for chart success.

As of today (Jan. 25)'s midweek sales flash, N17 is at Number 22, the third-highest new entry of the week. What's more, the track is the most downloaded song of the week so far.

While N17 is set to mark Tolu's first chart appearance as a solo artist, she has entered the Top 50 before as a member of Irish Women in Harmony who peaked at Number 15 with charity single Dreams in 2020.

The cut-off for sales and streams to count towards this week’s chart is 11:59pm on Thursday (Jan. 28). This week's final Official Irish Singles and Albums Charts will be published on OfficialCharts.com/Ireland at 3pm on Friday (Dec. 18). Listen to The Official Chart every Friday on RTÉ 2FM with Bláthnaid Treacy at 7pm.
