The Weeknd teases new music coming this week

It looks like The Weeknd is releasing a brand new single this week, if a conversation on his Instagram page is anything to go by.

The Canadian artist, real name Abel Tesfaye, posted a text conversation with his creative director La Mar Taylor to social media with the caption: "should we drop Friday? I'm indifferent to be honest". What a tease!

Even more exciting is that it looks like The Weeknd's new album could also be finished. More Instagram video uploads showed him mastering songs in the studio, although there's no audio, just to keep us guessing that little bit longer.

The Weeknd's previous album Starboy was a huge success across the globe. In the UK, Starboy peaked at Number 5 on the Official Albums Chart, spawning two Top 10 singles in the process. The album was so popular that all of its tracks impacted the Official Singles Chart Top 100. 

The Official Chart has already had a taste of The Weeknd in 2018; his Kendrick Lamar collaboration Pray For Me from the Black Panther soundtrack peaked at Number 11. View The Weeknd's full UK chart history here.
