The Pierces have opened up about their new album Creation in a mini documentary premiered on Official Charts.

Sibling duo The Pierces have opened up about their “joyful and uplifting” new album Creation.

The group – made up of Allison and Catherine Pierce – discuss working on their fifth studio record and singing together from the ages of five and seven in the documentary, which premieres below:

“For our new album, Alison and I really wanted to pull out these universal themes.” Catherine said. “Things that we feel that everyone sees and goes through and experiences. We wanted to tap into the collective consciousness, in a way.”

Songs Kings, Believe In Me and Creation can be heard in the clip, the latter of which also serves as their latest single.

“This album for me is more joyful and uplifting,” Catherine adds. “I feel like I was coming into a new part of myself where I was able to appreciate life and beauty.

"We created this record together and it’s about us changing and becoming new people, becoming a new creation.”

The Pierces release Creation on September 1. The record follows 2011’s You & I, which peaked at Number 4 on the Official Albums Chart.

The duo recently announced details of their 10-date UK tour, which kicks off on September 16 at Edinburgh Queens Hall and includes a date at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on September 23. Full details for the show can be found on their official website.
