The Official Top 40 Most Streamed Songs Of 2013

UK music fans streamed twice as many songs last year than they did in 2012, with Get Lucky, Pompeii and Blurred Lines among 2013’s most listened to tracks.

UK music fans streamed twice as many songs last year than they did in 2012, with Get Lucky, Pompeii and Blurred Lines among 2013’s most listened to tracks.

The number of audio tracks streamed in the UK during 2013 was almost double that of the year before, OfficialCharts.com can reveal.

According to the Official Charts Company’s market data, in the last year a massive 7.4 billion songs were streamed via premium or ad-funded music services such as Spotify, Deezer, Napster, BlinkBox Music, Sony Unlimited, Rara, Xbox Music, Bloom and Music Qubed, among others. This figure is up from 3.7 billion audio streams which were served in 2012.

2013’s most listened to song Daft Punk’s Get Lucky FT Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers. Get Lucky placed second on The Official Top 40 Biggest Selling Singles Of 2013, selling over 1.3 million copies last year.

British band Bastille take second place on The Official Most Streamed Songs Of 2013 Top 40 with Pompeii. The track, which spent seven weeks at Number 1 on the Official Streaming Chart, was the 11th biggest selling single of last year.

Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines FT TI and Pharrell (Number 3), Passenger’s Let Her Go (4) and Avicii’s Wake Me Up (5) complete the annual Top 5.

US acts account for the lion’s share of The Official Top 40 Most Streamed Songs Of 2013 (42.5%), while home grown acts make up 37.5% of the chart.

Scottish DJ and Producer Calvin Harris appears on the most songs in the Top 40 (3), while Avicii, Bruno Mars, Ellie Goulding, Justin Timberlake, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Pharrell Williams and Rudimental each feature on two.

The title of the longest running Number 1 on the Official Streaming Chart of 2013 is held jointly by Bastille’s Pompeii, Daft Punk’s Get Lucky, and Avicii’s Wake Me Up. They each spent seven weeks at the top spot.
