The Official Top 40 Biggest Selling DVD/Blu-rays of 2015 revealed
It was a roaring success throughout 2015; now Official Charts can confirm that everyone’s favourite bear from Peru, Paddington, is the biggest DVD/Blu-ray of 2015.
The film, which spent two weeks at Number 1 on the Official Video Chart in March/April, shifted nearly 1.2 million copies, 464,000 of which were sold in its huge opening week alone.

The figures come as the British Video Assocation (BVA) announce that the overall entertainment market grew to £2.24 billion in 2015, up 1.5% on the previous year, with 57% preferring to own a disc rather than rent or stream (43%).
DVD and Blu-ray sales in 2015 totalled 119.6 million last year according to Official Charts Company data, representing nearly half (48%) of the total home entertainment market.

Taking second place on the end of year video chart is Jurassic World, which has sold 1.05 million copies since its release ten weeks ago, while The Hobbit – Battle Of The Five Armies finished third on 1.02 million. However, if you include sales of The Hobbit Trilogy box set, Battle Of The Five Armies overtakes Paddington with sales of 1.3 million.

At Number 4 is Fifty Shades Of Grey. The erotic drama soared to Number 1 on the Official Video Chart in June and takes the title for the fastest-selling video of the year with opening week sales of 521,000. By the of 2015, the title had sold 909,000.

Looking closer at the video genre charts, British talent led way, with the Amy Winehouse documentary Amy taking the top spot on the Official 2015 Music On Video Chart. Meanwhile, Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby topped the sport and fitness video category with her 3 Minute Belly Blitz, selling 378,000 copies and becoming the fastest selling fitness DVD ever back in January.
