There's been no stopping The Greatest Showman both on film and in the music charts. Thanks to 21 weeks at Number 1 across five separate stints, and staying Top 10 for for almost the entirety of the year, the collection is on course to finish at the UK's biggest album of 2018.
The cast recording has held off challenges from huge acts like Snow Patrol, Kanye West, James Bay and Manic Street Preachers during its time at the top, and has racked up some impressive sales in the process – 1.37 million combining physical, digital download and streaming equivalent sales.
The album has shone across all formats throughout the year, helping it stay at the top end of the charts. 47% of its total figure is physical CD and vinyl sales, while 35% is streaming and 18% is from downloads. Look back at more soundtracks that conquered the Official Charts here.
The Greatest Showman has an impressive lead over its competitors, currently almost 854,000 combined units ahead of nearest rival, George Ezra's Staying at Tamara's (506K). Watch George celebrating his chart-topping record back in April below:
Last year's biggest album from Ed Sheeran, Divide, is still pushing healthy numbers to place third in 2018 so far (472K), ahead of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again in fourth on 309k.
Drake's Scorpion, also released in July, is fifth biggest of 2018 so far (277K), while Dua Lipa scores the best-selling album by a female artist of the year so far, with her self-titled debut in seventh place, on 224k.
Further down the chart Emimen's Kamikaze – surprise-released in September – is eighth (204k), overtaking the tally accrued by his previous album Revival, which is 17th.
The biggest debut of 2018 so far goes to Essex singer Anne-Marie's Speak Your Mind. Boosted by hit single 2002 and current release Perfect (To Me) – it's the 16th biggest album of the year so far, and Camila Cabello's self-titled record is the year's second biggest debut at 22. Both albums landed inside the Official Albums Chart Top 5 in their opening week.
Other big albums released this year include Arctic Monkeys' Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino at Number 9, the A Star Is Born cast recording at 11, Ariana Grande's Sweetner at 14 and Kylie Minogue's Golden at 26.
Biggest debuts of 2018 so far
There's a variety of first albums in the longer rundown of the year, and of those actually released in 2018, the top are Anne-Marie (14 in the overall list) and Camila (22), followed by: Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy (39); BRIT Award winner Jorja Smith with Lost and Found, followed by Juice Wrld's Goodbye & Good Riddance and Calum Scott's Only Human.
