The Killers notch up fourth UK Number 1 album with Battle Born

The Killers have today notched up their fourth UK Number 1 album with Battle Born. The Las Vegas band’s latest album delivered an opening sale this week of 94,000 putting the album as 2012’s third fastest seller to date. Plus see the full Top 100.

The Killers have today notched up their fourth UK Number 1 album with Battle Born.

The Las Vegas band’s latest album, which was released on Monday, delivered an opening sale this week of 94,000 putting the album as 2012’s third fastest seller to date behind Lana Del Rey’s Born To Die and Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events. The Killers previously scored Official Albums Chart Number 1s with 2004’s Hot Fuss, 2006’s Sam’s Town and 2008’s Day & Age.

P!nk’s The Truth About Love also scoops up sales of nearly 80,000 copies giving the US singer the second highest new entry of the week at Number 2. The Script fall one place to Number 3 today with their latest full-length, #3, while last week’s chart toppers The xx slide three places to Number 4 with Coexist. Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events holds firm at Number 5.

New Entries

In addition to The Killers’ battle Born (Number 1) and P!nk’s The Truth About Love (2), there are seven other new entries on this week’s Official Albums Chart.

The 25th anniversary edition of Michael Jackson’s seminal 1987 album, Bad, debuts at Number 6. The album, which spawned nine Top 40 hits (including the Number 1 I Just Can't Stop Loving You) between ’87 and ’89, is the UK’s ninth biggest selling album of all time.

Call Me Maybe star Carly Rae Jepsen lands at Number 8 with Kiss. Kiss is the Canadian singer’s second studio album but her first to be released internationally.

US indie rockers Grizzly Bear and Band Of Horses score their highest charting UK albums to date with Shields (17) and Mirage Rock (20). Blues quartet Rival Sons are at 31 with Head Down, Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora’s Aftermath Of The Lowdown is at 35, while Ben Folds Five’s The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind (40) complete’s this week’s Top 40 new entries.

The week’s highest climber comes courtesy of P!nk, The Greatest Hits – So Far climbs 15 places to Number 34.
