The Chainsmokers are Number 1 in the United States for a third week, and have this week equalled a record set by Outkast as a cherry on top.

The New York duo's single Closer - a collaboration with Halsey - leads the Billboard Hot 100 for a third week after shifting 208,000 downloads, the first song to sell over 200,000 in a single week in over three months. The last to do so was Justin Timberlake's Can't Stop The Feeling (379,000).

Closer was also the top streaming song of the week (36.8 million), fueled by their performances at the MTV Video Music Awards. That exposure has also sent their hit Don't Let Me Down back to Number 5 (up two places). With two top five singles concurrently, The Chainsmokers join Outkast, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and twenty one pilots as the only duos in US chart history to achieve this feat.

Speaking of twenty one pilots, their latest single Heathens rises one place to Number 3 and the Top 5 is concluded with Sia's Cheap Thrills at Number 4 and the aforementioned Don't Let Me Down by The Chainsmokers featuring Daya.

Also in the Top 10, Shawn Mendes' Treat You Better shuffles two places to reach a new peak of Number 8 and after the MTV VMA Video Vanguard Award win, Rihanna's Needed Me hops up one spot to Number 10.

Further down, two more performers at the VMAs surge up the chart, with Britney Spears' Make Me up from 58 to 17, and Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj debuting at 31 with Side To Side.

On the Billboard 200 albums chart, Barbra Streisand makes it home run of Number 1s over Britney Spears. Barbra already beat Britney to the UK and Australian Number 1s and continued her run of success in the States with 149,000 combined chart sales.

Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway is Barbra's 11th Number 1 album in the US, extending her lead as the female with the most US Number 1 albums. The chart topping also moves the legendary vocalist to third overall tied with Bruce Springsteen for most US Number 1 albums. Only The Beatles (19) and Jay Z (13) have earned more.

Britney Spears' Glory actually settles for Number 3 (110,000 album equivalent sales) because country stars Florida Georgia Line debut at Number 3 with Dig Your Roots, which only finished 4,000 chart sales behind Barbra on 145,000.
