The winners of the 2019 Ivor Novello awards have been announced, with Mariah Carey and The 1975 among those taking home songwriting trophies.

29 individual songwriters and composers have been presented with awards to recognise music creators for their wider contribution to UK music, with 83% of the winners receiving an Ivor for the first time.

Mariah Carey was presented with the PRS for Music Special International Award, which acknowledges her as "an extraordinary global talent, an impactful songwriter and one of the biggest selling artists of all time."

Mariah holds two UK Number 1 singles and 39 Top 40s on the Official Chart, and one of the best-selling songs of all time with All I Want For Christmas Is You. See her full Official Chart history here.

The Chair of the Ivors Academy Crispin Hunt said: “Today’s celebrated music creators have been rightly recognised for their artistic merit and inspiring influence on their fellow creators."

The 'Godfather of Grime' and holder of seven Top 10 singles Wiley takes home the Ivors Inspiration Award, in part for his role in shaping a hugely innovative and uniquely British genre, while the PRS for Music Most Performed Work award went to the writing team behind Rudimental's These Days, which was Officially the fifth biggest song of 2018.

The 1975 achieved a double win for Best Contemporary Song for Love It If We Made It, as well as Songwriters Of The Year for their chart-topping album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships.

Other winners include Ben Howard, Dido and Richard Ashcroft; see the full list below.
