The 1975 have announced a UK tour and teased news of their second album.

Days after suggesting they may be splitting up on their Twitter page, the band posted a letter online announcing a string of tour dates and confirming their second album is "in production".

"It's creation signifies the end of the most inspiring and challenging time that we've ever shared as friends and as artists," frontman Matthew Healy wrote.

"This is the beginning of a new chapter for The 1975. Our new record signifies the start of a new world for us, a more colourful world a less colourful world." Read the letter in full below (click to enlarge):

The 1975 will play 16 shows in the UK in November this year to tie in with the release, kicking off in Liverpool on November 11 and wrapping up in Manchester on November 28. The full list of tour dates appears below (click image to enlarge):

The 1975 topped the Official Albums Chart with their eponymous debut in September 2013. The collection spawned the Top 40 hits Chocolate, The City and Sex.
