Stormzy predicts how many copies of ÷ Ed Sheeran will sell in its first week: Interview

We chat to Stormzy all about his Number 1 album Gang Signs & Prayer, plus get his predictions on how his pal Ed will fair in the chart.

Last Friday (March 3), Stormzy made history when his debut album Gang Signs & Prayer went straight in at Number 1, becoming the first pure Grime album to hit the top spot.

In the process, GSAP scored the most first week streams ever recorded for an album, while all of the album's tracks impacted the Official Singles Chart Top 100, making Stormzy the first UK artist to achieve that feat

Fast forward to this week, and Stormzy's new BFF Ed Sheeran may just break those very same records once again; Ed's third studio LP ÷ is smashing records on all formats and was closing in on 500,000 sales during Monday's midweek Chart Update. Even more impressive? All of ÷'s 16 tracks are expected to crack the Top 40!

To get the lowdown from one chart record-breaker about another, we sat down with Stormzy last week to get his thoughts on how many copies of ÷ Ed will sell in the first week. Watch above to see Stormzy get his Mystic Meg on and predict Ed's week 1 sales figure (spoiler: it's a mighty one)

Although Stormzy is very gracious in wishing Ed all the luck in the world, ÷ isn't quite a chart topping album just yet. Wait your turn Mr. Sheeran! Last week, we got Stormzy's thoughts on what a Number 1 record means for the Grime scene, and how he feels at being the first to do it.
