Stormzy and Harry Styles ahead in the race for Ireland's 2019 Christmas Number 1 single and album

Stormzy and Harry Styles are in the pole positions for Ireland's Christmas Number 1 single and album respectively.

In today's Official Chart Update, OfficialCharts.com/Ireland can reveal that Stormzy is on course for the 2019 Christmas Number 1 with his Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy collaboration Own It. The track has so far peaked at Number 3 and sees its popularity spike following the release of the British rapper's second studio album Heavy Is The Head this past week. 

Two more tracks from the album are eyeing Top 20 debuts, taking Stormzy's tally of Top 50 hits to nine overall. Audacity ft. Headie One is on track to be this week's highest new entry at Number 7, while Lessons is at Number 17 at the halfway point.

Elsewhere on the singles tally, Harry Styles could also claim two Top 10 hits in Friday's final chart. Adore You is currently up two to Number 4, while Watermelon Sugar rockets 24-9 midweek, potentially marking Harry's fourth top flight hit on Irish soil. 

Sticking with Harry, his new album Fine Line is leading the race towards Friday's Christmas Number 1 album. Fine Line has sold more vinyl and digital downloads this week, plus it marginally has the edge over Stormzy on streaming also - his album Heavy Is The Head is at Number 2.

Finally, following their appearance on The Late Late Show last week singing Fairtytale of New York, The Pogues' The Best Of is set for a chart return at Number 21.
