Soda Blonde announce debut album Small Talk

Soda Blonde have revealed details of their debut album Small Talk.

The Dublin alt-pop quartet consisting of vocalist Faye O’Rourke, guitarist Adam O’Regan, drummer Dylan Lynch and bassist Donagh Seaver-O’Leary will release their inaugural studio album under the Soda Blonde moniker on Friday July 9.

Small Talk's title track is released today as the album's trailer single, and the band have also announced Ireland and UK tour dates for August and September 2021, with tickets being available now.

Previous singles Terrible Hands and Swimming Through The Night are included on the tracklist, alongside new songs such as Tiny Darkness and Holy Roses. Small Talk will tackle a variety of themes including religion versus science, fate versus choice and societal pressure.

“To put it simply, Small Talk is about life in our 20’s,” said frontwoman Faye O’Rourke. "Every part of us is in here, both subliminally and literally. Lyrically, this record is like a collection of my flaws and insecurities. They’re lingering awkwardly by the bar at a crowded social gathering, waiting to integrate with the wider world."

Previously, all four Soda Blonde members were part of the group Little Green Cars, whose 2013 debut album Absolute Zero reached Number 1 on the Official Irish Albums Chart. 2016 follow-up Ephemera peaked at Number 2 before the band split in March 2019.

Soda Blonde saw O’Rourke, O’Regan, Lynch and Seaver-O’Leary reunite without Little Green Cars guitarist and vocalist Stevie Appleby.
