Sam Smith and Normani's Dancing With A Stranger lands at Number 1 on the Official Trending Chart

Sam Smith and Normani's new single Dancing With A Stranger is making a big impact in the UK this week.

Sam Smith and Normani are off to a strong start with their new single as Dancing With A Stranger lands at Number 1 on the Official Trending Chart.

The song tops the Top 20 chart, which looks at which new songs are climbing the Official Singles Chart since the previous Friday.

Dancing With A Stranger was released last week and is on track to be this week's highest new entry on the Official Singles Chart, currently at Number 3 on the latest midweek update. If the duo keep up their momentum, Sam will claim his ninth Top 5 hit (check out his full chart history here), while Normani will score her first as a soloist and third overall including Fifth Harmony’s hits Worth It and Work From Home.

Westlife's comeback is also off to a positive start; their first single in eight years Hello My Love - written by Ed Sheeran - is on track for a Top 20 debut this week. The Irish quartet are one of the UK's most successful acts in chart history - check out Westlife's Top 20 biggest singles here.

Other brand new singles making waves this week include Calvin Harris and Rag'n'Bone Man's Giant, while French DJ Gesaffelstein is on the cusp of his first UK Top 40 appearance with Lost In The Fire ft. The Weeknd.

Elsewhere, Catfish & The Bottlemen's Longshot - the lead single from their forthcoming third album - is set for a surge into the Top 40 this week, as is rising star Lewis Capaldi with his latest release Someone You Loved.

About the Official Trending Chart

The Official Trending Chart highlights the hottest new tracks beginning to make an impact in the UK every week.

The Top 20 rundown, published on OfficialCharts.com every Tuesday, based on the first four days’ sales of each chart week, is designed to highlight emerging hits as they begin to scale the Official Charts and build buzz.

The Official Trending Chart ranks titles which are showing week-on-week chart growth, and is the only “new music” chart to reflect audio track sales and streams comprehensively across all services.

Devised by the Official Charts Company in close consultation with labels, retailers and media, since launching in 2016, the chart has already highlighted future Number 1 singles including Rudimental's These Days, Shotgun by George Ezra, and Jess Glynne's I'll Be There.
