London DJ and producer Route 94 has gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official Singles chart with My Love FT Jess Glynne.

Congratulations to Route 94 who has gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with My Love FT Jess Glynne.

The 20-year-old London-based DJ and producer’s track has knocked Pharrell Williams’ mega-selling hit, Happy (Number 2 today), off the top spot.

Route 94, who takes his moniker from the US highway between Chicago, the birthplace of house, and the home of techno, Detroit, is “over the moon” with his first ever chart topper.

“I didn’t see it coming,” he tells OfficialCharts.com. “I’m absolutely over the moon! I never thought ‘I’m gonna write a massive Number 1’ or a pop hit, or whatever, I just wrote it, and what happened just happened. I’ll be celebrating by going out for some food with my girlfriend and then throwing a MASSIVE party, so everyone come and get involved!”

My Love features the vocal talents of Jess Glynne who collaborated with Clean Bandit on their former Number 1 smash Rather Be (a non mover at Number 3 today). It topped the Official Singles Chart for four consecutive weeks, and holds the record for the fastest selling single of 2014 so far.

Katy Perry’s Dark Horse holds firm at Number 4 on this week’s Official Singles Chart, while BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice winner Sam Smith is down three places to Number 5.

New Entries and High Climbers

Following her two Top 10 singles in December (including the Official Number 1 smash Somewhere Only We Know), Lily Allen is back! The London-born singer/songwriter scores this week’s second highest new entry with Air Balloon (Number 7), which is taken from her forthcoming third album, Sheezus.

Meanwhile, Magic, the first single from Coldplay’s upcoming sixth album, Ghost Stories, is new in at Number 10 today. Singer/songwriter Nick Mulvey, whose celebrity fans include Laura Marling, claims his debut Top 40 hit with Cucurucu (new in at 26).

This week’s highest climber is Avicii’s Addicted To You. The Swedish DJ’s track soars 28 places today to enter the Official Singles Chart Top 40 at Number 36.
