Australian rocker Jimmy Barnes has made chart history in his home country, securing a record-matching 11th Number 1 album.

His fifteenth studio album Soul Searchin' went straight in at Number 1, his ninth studio album to do so. Adding his live album Barnestorming and compilation Barnes Hits Anthology into the mix, Soul Searchin' is his eleventh to hit the top spot, a record only equaled by U2 and Madonna.

Adding in Jimmy's work as vocalist for Cold Chisel, he has 15 chart toppers to his name, his overall tally pushing him even further ahead of the pack.

"I feel blessed to be making music after such a long time in the business and equally I feel privileged that people are still buying our records and coming to the shows – it’s very humbling," Barnes told ARIA.

Dan Rosen, Chief Executive Officer of ARIA also commented: “Congratulations to Jimmy Barnes on this incredible achievement. He has ruled the ARIA Charts for over 30 years and shows no signs of slowing down. To hold the record of eleven ARIA #1 Albums together with U2 and Madonna just shows what legendary company he keeps.”

Elsewhere, Meghan Trainor's Thank You rebounds to its peak position of 3 (up four places) and Tegan and Sara's Love You To Death begins at 13.

well he was born in the uk (James Swan) and his only hit here was 'good times' with INXS in 1988 (reached number 18)...so i'd say he's Australia's equivalent of Robbie Williams .

He's definitely someone everyone in Australia knows, he hasn't had much single success that I know of but he's still very successful and well known. However most people who buy albums in Australia seem to be older from looking at our album charts over the years.
