To celebrate newcomers Rixton scoring that all-important first Official Singles Chart Number 1 with Me And My Broken Heart on Sunday, OfficialCharts.com met up with the boys to present them with their prestigious Official Number 1 Award and have a good old natter…

The Manchester-based quartet burst onto the UK music scene with debut single Me And My Broken Heart, but they weren’t overnight successes "it’s been a long journey really, we were together years before we even got signed," frontman Jake Roche (son of EastEnders star Shane Richie and Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan) explains. "It started out with me and Danny and we lived in a caravan!"

"We got demoted from the house because we made too much noise," bass player and keyboardist Danny adds. The pair then recruited guitarist Charley and drummer Lewi and, before they knew it, a band was born! "Lewi tried stealing my girlfriend," says Jake. "I got rid of her and got him in!"

Me And My Broken Heart also went Top 20 on America’s Billboard Hot 100 chart, and thanks to their massive chart success, the boys have met some famous friends along the way. "The most famous person in my phone book in probably Psy," explains Lewi. (Can we all just take a moment to imagine that collaboration?! Amazing!)
