James Arthur, Craig David & Bastille, and Little Mix are hoping to bag new Top 40 entries this Friday.

It is now a three-horse race for the Official Singles Chart top spot as currently leader Camila Cabello takes on Rita Ora and Ed Sheeran for this week’s Number 1.

Camila’s Havana ft. Young Thug leads the Official Chart Update today, but just 200 combined chart sales (downloads and streams) separate Havana and Rita Ora’s Anywhere, at 2, meaning the chart’s leading ladies are closer than ever before.

Just behind them at Number 3 is Ed Sheeran with Perfect. The song, which he performed on The X Factor last weekend, debuted at Number 4 on the chart back in March following the release of Ed’s third album ÷, and could reach a new peak this week. A remix of the song with a mystery guest collaborator will be released this Friday.

Completing today’s Official Chart Update Top 5 are Marshmello and Khalid with Silence, down one slot to Number 4, and Big Shaq’s Man’s Not Hot, which gains ground of one placing to Number 5.

New entries and high climbers

Fresh from an X Factor semi-finals performance, James Arthur’s new single Naked is set to be this week’s highest new entry, currently at Number 6, ahead of another potential new Top 10 entry – Clean Bandit and Julia Michaels’ I Miss You is up four places today to Number 7. Also hoping to secure a Top 10 position for the first time in his 20-plus year career, is MK, who rises six to Number 10 with 17.

First impacting the Top 100 seven weeks ago, Holy Mountain by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds is on course for a Top 40 debut this week at Number 22, helped along by the release of a 12-inch picture disc vinyl version. One spot behind them at Number 23 are Craig David and Bastille with their new collaboration I Know You, which they performed on last week’s Sounds Like Friday Night.

Mariah Carey’s seasonal ascent up the Top 40 looks to continue, as All I Want For Christmas Is You has so far climbed seven places this week to Number 27. From a chart regular to potential newcomers, South Korean boyband BTS could net their first UK Top 40 hit this Friday with Mic Drop at Number 30.

There’s more Christmas spirit at Number 34 as Wham! climb 47 rungs with Last Christmas, and finally, Little Mix’s Glory Days: The Platinum Edition track Is Your Love Enough? could mark their 19th Top 40 appearance at Number 37.

I wouldn't want to bet who's going to be #1 this Friday, but I hope it's 'Anywhere', considering 'Perfect' might go to #1 the week after due to the remix.
I like seeing: 'Naked', 'I Miss You' & '17' all entering the Top 10 for the first time.
I'm really amazed at how well BTS's new single is doing. I doubt it'll be that high on the actual chart, but seeing a K-Pop group in the UK Top 40 would be incredible! :)

Even though I prefer 'Havana' to 'Anywhere', I also want 'Anywhere' to take the #1 spot this week because I think that 'Perfect' will take the spot the week after if the remix performs anywhere near to the levels of the original. After that 'Perfect' should have a pretty good shot at the Christmas #1, which would be pretty good to see.
I'm really happy to see the new Top 10 entries for 'Naked', 'I Miss You' and '17' and it's great to see new Top 40 entries for 'I Know You', 'Mic Drop' and 'Is Your Love Enough?'. Sadly I don't think that 'Naked' will crack the Top 10 come Friday though as it's currently sitting at #52 on Spotify UK.

Hope this week Anywhere to be #1.

Well if the gap between it & 'Havana' closed from 8,000 to 200, then that's promising for 'Anywhere'. Like I said though, this week will probably be Rita's best chance at that fifth #1.

Well it looks like the remix has got off to a good start in sales & given the original was gaining in performance anyway, I think it could very well be next week's #1. :)
I'm actually listening to the Official Charts on Radio 1 right now. What do you think of it so far? As for 'Naked', you were right, it just entered at #11... but hey, that's still an impressive debut given that we don't get big debuts like that as often as we used to.
Regarding the 'Perfect' remix, I just listened to it & I would put on the same level as the original level. I like that it sounds more festive & Ed's & Beyoncé's harmonisations are beautiful, but it just sounds a bit more boring. Also, did you find that the acoustic guitar line is far most noticeable in this new version?

Yeah, it's definitely doing better than I originally expected, currently at #1 on iTunes in the UK, so it is a big contender for #1 next week, and will probably stop 'Anywhere' from climbing. I can see 'Havana' falling to #3 next week as both 'Perfect' and 'Anywhere' overtake it.
I've only just listened to the charts on BBC iPlayer since I don't get back from college until around 4:45, and then I have to wait until it goes on the iPlayer at around 5:45 to listen to it, and this week I was doing some other stuff so only started listening at around 9:30.
'Naked' did have a pretty good debut, and I hope it can climb into the Top 10 in next few weeks. It's a good song. Not my favourite new song of the week, but I still like it a lot.
As for the 'Perfect' remix... ehhh. I think the original is much better. It's not that the remix is particularly bad, but it won't be making my Top 40, that's for sure. The acoustic guitar is much more noticeable, and the violins sound somewhat muted. I'd give it a 5/10.

That's unlucky for 'Anywhere', considering two different songs will have blocked it from #1.
I'm not too sure about 'Naked' climbing into the Top 10 in the coming weeks, considering it fell out of the Top 10 on iTunes & was barely inside the Top 50 on today's Spotify chart. Speaking of which, there were four Christmas songs inside the Spotify Top 10 today! :D
I actually prefer the duet after a few listens. While I do agree that the violins are muted, I like how the production sounds more festive & Beyoncé sounds incredible. He certainly didn't 'Despacito' the song though...

'Anywhere' might still get to #1, but I don't think it's very likely. 'Perfect Duet' is still performing very well on it's 2nd day, so I don't think it's going to have a huge first day or 2 and then drop sharply like 'Walk on Water' did. I'm still not really a huge fan on it either, and when he said he was going to 'Despacito' the song I think he must've meant that he was getting a huge artist on to boost it's performance, rather than including a Spanish verse.
It's not looking like 'Naked' will make the Top 10, which is quite a shame because it is a good song. It made #2 on the Big Top 40 though, behind 'Perfect Duet' at #1 and ahead of 'Anywhere' at #3 and 'Perfect' at #4.
Christmas songs are doing very well this year. There were 3 in the Top 5 yesterday and now there's 2 in the Top 2, 3 in the Top 5 and 4 in the Top 10 on Spotify, so a Christmas song may very well be the Christmas #1 this year. They're not doing great on sales though, so only time will tell at this point.
