The race for this week's Official Number 1 album hots up, as RAYE closes the gap on country queen Shania Twain overnight.

According to the latest Official Charts Company data, RAYE's independently-released debut My 21st Century Blues now sits just 2,600 chart units behind Shania's latest LP Queen Of Me.

Queen Of Me - Shania's sixth studio album - remains at Number 1 in today's update and could well become the Canadian star's third UK chart-topper; joining 1998 release Come On Over and 2017's Now.

Though RAYE is certainly giving Shania a run for her money, with My 21st Century Blues gaining momentum at Number 2 and edging closer to the top spot.

I'm going to buy Heavy Heavy by the Young Fathers instead. They deserved a Top 5 album.

Just a note that Come On Over was Shania' debut HIT album. It was her 3rd major label album overall. Woman In Me being one of the earlier 2, originally issued in 1995.
Considering I've crossed the Atlantic twice to see her, I won't be too disappointed to see Raye hit #1. Shania has already had enormous success, having the decade's (90's) best selling album worldwide with Come On Over.
February is certainly all about the girls! Raye, Shania, Sza, Taylor, Venbee, Miley, and a bit lower down: Ava Max and Mimi Webb.

God I hope Shania does it, she deserves it so much. And people will know who she is in another two years' time. Having said that, if OCC push it enough they'll get the outcome they want.

What makes you so confident that people won't know Raye in two years' time?

As much as i love SHANIA and her new album QUEEN OF ME is so good and much better than the lacklustre NOW released in 2017, RAYE really deserves the number 1 spot!! And i am pretty sure anyway her first album will reach number 1..if not this week, definitely next week..
