Puss In Boots: The Last Wish makes a magical Number 1 debut on the Official Film Chart.

Marching straight in at the top spot, the sequel to 2011’s Shrek spin-off Puss In Boots makes its impressive entrance based on digital downloads only. In the film, Puss In Boots (Antonio Banderas) discovers he’s used eight of his nine lives thanks to his daring adventures – and decides to seek out the mythical Last Wish to restore them.

This means our reigning champ, Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical, which spent four weeks at the top shuffles down to Number 2. Multi-Oscar nominee Elvis rises two to Number 3, while Living holds on to a place In the Top 5 on digital downloads only, at Number 4.

Top Gun: Maverick rounds out the Top 5 (5), finishing just ahead of Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody (6) which re-enters the Top 10 – and indeed the chart – for the first time since February.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever tumbles five (7), finishing the week just ahead of The Banshees of Inisherin (8) which rockets 13 places.

Festive action-comedy Violent Night, starring David Harbour, soars 17 places to Number 9 to enter the Top 10 for the first time following its release on DVD, Blu-ray and 4k UHD.

Finally, Dwayne Johnson’s turn in Black Adam clings on to a place in the Top 10 for another week, falling two places to Number 10.
