Paolo Nutini spends third week at Number 1 with Caustic Love

Paolo Nutini fends off tough competition from Damon Albarn and Imelda May to spends a third week at Number 1in the UK with Caustic Love.

Paolo Nutini today celebrates a third week at Number 1 on the UK’s Official Albums Chart with Caustic Love.

The Scottish singer/songwriter scored the fastest selling artist album of 2014 when his third full-length debuted at the chart summit last month with sales of over 109,000 copies in its opening week. It has now sold over 198,000 copies to date.

Blur frontman Damon Albarn is new in at Number 2 today with his new solo album, Everyday Robots, while Imelda May debuts at Number 3 with Tribal. The album, which is the Irish singer/songwriter’s third release, has become her highest charting UK album to date.

Paloma Faith’s A Perfect Contradiction holds firm at Number 4, while Embrace enter at Number 5 with their self-titled sixth studio album. The album is the West Yorkshire band’s first new release in almost eight years.

New Entries

In addition to Damon Albarn’s Everyday Robots (Number 2), Imelda May’s Tribal (3) and Embrace’s self-title album (5) there are three other new entries on today’s Official Albums Chart.

The Pixies are new in at Number 6 today with Indie Cindy. The influential US band’s fifth studio album was originally released two weeks ago as a limited edition run for Record Store Day 2014.

Former Distillers frontwoman Brody Dalle scores her debut UK Top 40 album as a solo artist with Diploid Love (33), while Mexican acoustic duo Rodrigo Y Gabriela enter at 39 with their fourth album, 9 Dead Alive.
