It seems One Direction can’t be held down as the band lead the race for Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart.

Drag Me Down - which was unexpectedly released last Friday - is currently out in front on today’s Official Chart Update with more than double the combined sales of its closest competitor, Little Mix’s Black Magic.

Meanwhile, Sigma and Ella Henderson’s Glitterball climbs a place to Number 3, Calvin Harris and Disciples’ How Deep Is Your Love jumps from 6 to 4, and Years & Years’ Shine is a 5.

New entries and high climbers

This week’s biggest climber looks set to come from Joe Stone. The DJ and producer’s house re-working of Montell Jordan’s This Is House We Do It – renamed The Party – vaults 182 places to Number 7 on today’s Update. The original peaked at the Number 11

Disclosure could be looking at their third Top 10 single this week as their new Sam Smith collaboration Omen zooms from 29 to Number 8 today, and The Weeknd’s Can’t Feel My Face climbs seven places to Number 10 following the unveiling of its music video last week.

Outside the Top 10, rapper Silento zooms 49 places to Number 14 with his viral hit Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae), and Youtube star Joe Weller is new at 18 with Wanna Do ft. Emil.

Shaggy could be heading for his first UK Top 40 hit in 13 years this week with I Need Your Love, currently at 24, and Jess Glynne’s Why Me is new at 36. The track is available when pre-ordering her debut album I Cry When I Laugh, which is out on August 21.

Finally, following the death of showbiz legend Cilla Black, the singer’s breakthrough track Anyone Who Had A Heart has re-entered the Top 100. The track, which topped the Official Singles Chart in 1964, has re-entered the tally at Number 91 and is expected to climb further this week. Read the full story here.
