Directioners have been waiting patiently – or maybe not that patiently – for news of 1D’s third album, and we’re getting even closer. Zayn, Harry, Louis, Liam and Niall today unveiled the artwork for Midnight Memories via Twitter, ahead of its release next month.

The follow-up to Up All Night and Take Me Home will feature the Number 2 single Best Song Ever, and the band’s new single, which was named this week as Story Of My Life.

One Direction’s first two albums are tough acts to follow. Their debut Up All Night has sold 968,000 copies, while the next, Take Me Home, has so far racked up 835,000 sales. Can Midnight Memories outshine them both?

At a press conference earlier this year to announce their 2014 Where We Are Tour, the boys indicated that Midnight Memories will have more of an edgier, rockier sound than previous albums. Are you ready for a more ‘rockstar’ 1D?

One Direction are currently in Australia with their Take Me Home Tour, and recently announced a whole day of special features and events just before Midnight Memories is released. Known as 1D Day, the big event is on 23 November. The album follows two days later.

What do you think of the new album cover? Give us a cheeky tweet and let us know.
