Olly Alexander announces release of first Years & Years solo single Starstruck

Olly Alexander has announced the release of the first Years & Years solo single, Starstruck. 

Set for release on April 8, it will be the first material to be released since it was announced that Years & Years, the dance-pop band in which Olly served as frontman, would continue on as a solo project. 

Revealing the new song title and cover art on Twitter, Olly said he was "really, really excited" for the release of the new track.

The release of Starstruck also comes as Olly's media presence is at an all-time high, following his starring role in the acclaimed drama It's A Sin from writer Russell T Davies in January.

The Pet Shop Boys hit that the Channel 4 show was named after saw a huge spike in streams following the series' transmission, while Years & Years also provided a cover to promote the program.

As a threesome, Years & Years released two albums together, 2015's Communion (which hit Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart) and 2018's ambitious Palo Santo. They also accumulated 5 UK Top 10 singles, including the Number 1 single King.
