The Official Charts is continuing the roll-out of its definitive series of UK chart books this week with the publication of seven books covering the Seventies and the Nineties.

The volumes, the latest in an historic series designed to chronicle the history of the Official Singles and Albums Charts, are available now with chart histories, biographies and charts at the greatest length yet published. The latest volumes are:

The Official Singles Charts: The Seventies
The Official Albums Charts: The Seventies
The Official Seventies Hits Book
The Official Singles Charts: The Nineties
The Official Albums Charts: The Nineties
The Official Compilations Charts: The Nineties
The Official Nineties Hits Book

The chart volumes offer comprehensive chronological listing of all the weekly rundowns through each decade, with the Compilations book even offering full track-listings for all "various artist" albums that charted during the decade. The Official Hits Books are companion encyclopaedias of all of the releases that reached the charts in that decade, listed by artist and packed full of chart facts.

The books incorporate data on the longest chart lengths published at the time, up to Top 75 (Top 20 for Compilations) – the longest chart lengths yet committed to book form.

The new series of books – published by the Official Charts Company as print on demand volumes, produced through the Kindle Direct Publishing platform - provide music fans of all depths of interest the opportunity to delve into music history decade-by-decade and represent an indispensable overview of the history of the Official Charts in the UK.

The Seventies and Nineties books are the latest decades to be covered by the series, with previous releases covering the Sixties, Eighties and Noughties. These books will be followed in 2020 by similar volumes covering the Fifties - and the latest decade, the Tens, covering the period from January 2010 through to this very month.

The books will thus complete a comprehensive library spanning the history of the Official UK charts, from the very first chart, the Singles chart published in November 1952, right through to the present decade.

Overseeing the mammoth task of putting together this series has been chart expert / archivist Graham Betts, who acts as writer and editor for the series. Betts has collated biographies, as well as data on awards, certifications and much more, all of which is presented around the UK chart information managed by the Official Charts Company.
