Nick Grimshaw is leaving his slot as host of BBC Radio 1's Breakfast Show.

Former X Factor judge Grimmy, who will have hosted the show six years in September, will step down from the position that same month, deciding that "it's time for a change, it's going to be time for a new show."

“It was always my dream to do the breakfast show and I’m very grateful that I got to live my dream every day for what will be nearly 6 years," Grimmy explained on his show earlier today (May 31). "But 6 years is a long time and this isn’t a forever job. I had the time of my life."

Nick will still be part of the Radio 1 family, and will now take the drivetime slot currently occupied by Greg James. And where does that leave Greg? He's going to be the new Breakfast Show host.

Greg commented: "I cannot wait to take over the most famous radio show in the world and it was so lovely to break the news on air with Grim that we are switching shows."

While these changes are taking place in September, there is some more switching up of the schedule starting next month. Scott Mills is taking over from Greg James as host of the Official Chart on Fridays from 4-7pm.

On top of that, Radio 1 will begin operating a four-day week, meaning flagship hosts like Clara Amfo will host from Monday to Thursday, and weekend regulars will front their shows from Friday through Sunday.
