Mumford And Sons return to Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart today with their second full-length, Babel.

The London-based folk band, who were knocked off the top spot last Sunday by Muse’s The 2nd Law, have surged ahead of mid-week leader, Halcyon by Ellie Goulding, to reclaim pole position.

When it first topped the Official Albums Chart two weeks ago, Babel became the fastest selling album of 2012 so far, overtaking both Lana Del Rey’s Born To Die and Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events. Today, the Official Charts Company can reveal that Babel has now broken into the Top 10 biggest selling albums of 2012 at Number 9, surging ahead of One Direction’s Up All Night and Olly MursIn Case You Didn’t Know with sales of nearly 275,000 copies.

Meanwhile, Ellie Goulding scores her second Top 5 album today with new full-length release, Halcyon, debuting at Number 2. Muse slide two places to Number 3 with The 2nd Law, and P!nk’s The Truth About Love is down one to Number 4. Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events completes this week’s Top 5, holding firm at Number 5.
