Monkees star Davy Jones has died

The Official Charts are sad to report that Monkees star Davy Jones has died.

According to online reports, Davey (pictured second from the right above) suffered a heart attack this morning while at home in Florida. He was 66. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and bandmates at this sad time.

The Monkees were a US rock band who had their own eponymous TV show. The group released 11 studio albums between 1966 and 1996, the first two of which – 1966’s The Monkees and 1967’s More Of The Monkees – reached Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart. The band had four Top 10 singles in the Official Singles Chart, including 1967’s I’m A Believer which reached Number 1.
