Perennial Irish Charts favs and purveyors of fine indie-rock, Modernlove, have returned with a brand new single.

Don't Wanna sees the band take on a shinier, glossier form full of layered-up, sugary vocals paired with a grunge-inspired production style that off-sets the more commercialised trappings.

Speaking about the new track, the band said: "Don't Wanna is a song about desire. We've all had that weird feeling at some point where you can't decide whether you might be kinda into one of your close mates.

It touches on the difficulty of navigating friendships and relationships as a young person when such passionate feelings and sex are involved. We wanted to capture that excitement in the sonics as well, it's definitely one of our poppiest tunes but still got that rocky edge to it." Watch the lo-fi video for Don't Wanna below.

Following the release of their breakthrough single Us and EP Monochrome Blue in 2021, Barry, Cian, Danny and Graham spoke to Irish Charts about bringing the 90s back in style, while also being up for the challenge of a 00s revival with their next release.

The Drogheda natives also released their ode to infatuation, Follow You, just in time for Valentine's Day earlier this year

Don't Wanna is out now via Akira Records.
