Michael Kiwanuka won't be hating today's Official Chart Update, in fact, he'll be loving it.

The singer-songwriter's second studio album Love & Hate is Number 1 as of today's update, 1,300 copies ahead of his nearest rival Adele. Michael's debut album Home Again reached Number 4 back in 2012, so a new chart peak is on the cards for the Londoner.

Should Michael score the top spot, he will hit Number 1 in the exact date of the Official Albums Chart's 60th anniversary, book-ending Frank Sinatra in 60 years of Official Charts history.

Adele's 25 is at two and Christine & The Queens' Chaleur Humaine rises five places to Number 3, a potential new personal best for the album. Last week's Number 1 Ellipsis from Biffy Clyro sits at 4 and Coldplay's A Head Full of Dreams concludes the Top 5.

New entries and high climbers

Behind Michael Kiwanuka, Good Charlotte are the next highest new entry on the chart; their seventh studio album Youth Authority is at 8, their highest placing since 2004. Up 29 places to Number 10 is Legend by Bob Marley & The Wailers, an album spurred back up the chart thanks to a new Bob Marley remix single, and the album's status as one of the UK 60 biggest sellers of all time.

Jeff Beck's Loud Hailer is at 14 at the midweek stage, which would mark his first ever appearance inside the Top 20. James Bay's Chaos and the Calm is up five places to 17 after his performance in Radio 1's Live Lounge and Gregory Porter's Liquid Spirit climbs 66 spots to Number 31, following an online promotion (31).

Bright Light Bright Light's third album Choreography could be his first to crack the Top 40, new at 33, and the last potential new entry is from Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler - his debut solo studio album We're All Somebody From Somewhere is at 36.

Finally, the UK's two biggest selling albums of all time have floated back into the Top 40. On the back of a national retail and online campaign, ABBA's Gold has ascended 41 places to 34 and Queen's Greatest Hits is up 34 places to 38.

Adele and Coldplay still in the top 5, good for them.
