Mariah Carey is swapping Las Vegas for Blackpool - she's headlining LIVEWIRE Festival 2018 this August.

The throwback festival is only in its second year, but made headlines with its inaugural edition last year with a headline set from Will Smith & DJ Jazzy Jeff. Now, one of the globe's most successful ever artists will be adding her unique touch of glam to Lancashire on August 24.

“This is absolutely fantastic news and we are thrilled at the prospect of Mariah Carey performing live in Blackpool," explained Councillor Gillian Campbell, Deputy Leader of Blackpool Council.

“She is a world-class artist and this promises to be another sensational LIVEWIRE event over the August Bank Holiday weekend.”

The elusive chanteuse's headline slot is a UK festival exclusive for 2018, and will mark her first non-Christmas concert in the country since March 2016. Prior to LIVEWIRE, Mariah will carry out her latest Las Vegas residency The Butterfly Returns in July.

Tickets for Mariah's day of the festival will be on sale at 10am on May 11. She joins Thursday night headliners Boyz II Men, while country legend Kenny Rogers was set to headline the Saturday evening, but has had to withdraw due to ill health. His replacement has not been announced.

Just one week after Mariah's Blackpool show, Britney Spears is popping in town for Tower Festival. Blackpool really is the Las Vegas of the UK!
