Lily Allen's cover of Somewhere Only We Know, from that Christmas TV ad, is back at Number 1!

Despite losing the top spot to Calvin Harris, Alesso and Hurts’ Under Control last Sunday, Lily Allen returns to Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart today with her haunting cover of Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know.

The track, which has been hotly tipped to be this year’s Christmas Number 1, features in department store John Lewis’ ‘Bear And Hare’ festive TV ad campaign.

Somewhere Only We Know first reached the chart summit two weeks ago, beating both Bastille and Gary Barlow in the closest Number 1 race of the year so far. Lily has faced fierce competition over the last seven days from One Direction’s Story Of My Life, but her single finishes the week a cool 6,000 copies ahead of the 1D boys (Number 2).

Bastille climb from 5 to 3 with Of The Night, while Calvin Harris and friends slide three places to Number 4. Gary Barlow’s Let Me Go (5) completes this weeks Top 5.

New Entries and High Climbers

Rebecca Ferguson scores this week’s highest new entry with her latest single, I Hope (Number 15). Her fellow X Factor alumni, James Arthur, is new in at Number 19 with his new single, Recovery, and Brit trio All About She make their Top 40 debut at 20 with Higher (Free).

Leona Lewis’ new Christmas single, One More Sleep, enters at 34, while Change Me (39) gives Justin Bieber his ninth Top 40 hit in as many weeks.

The race to this year’s Christmas Number 1 doesn’t officially kick off for another week, but three festive favourites have already surged up the Official Singles Chart; Mariah Carey’s 1994 smash, All I Want For Christmas Is You, is up 33 places to Number 14, The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl’s Fairytale Of New York climbs 37 places to Number 16, and Wizaard climb 55 places to Number 37 with I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday.

And finally, Pharrell WilliamsHappy, from the soundtrack to Despicable Me 2, climbs 41 places to make its Top 40 debut at Number 30. Mumford And SonsI Will Wait has re-entered the Official Singles Chart Top 40 following Luke Friend’s performance of it on last weekend’s X Factor. It climbs 49 places to 33 today.
