Lewis Capaldi's debut album has broken a record ahead of its release this Friday (May 17).

The singer-songwriter's first record Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent is the most pre-added album on Apple Music in the UK ever, Music Week reports, with 113,300 pre-adds so far.

Expect that figure to translate into big streaming numbers on its release week, when plays on all major services including Spotify and Deezer (plus physical and download sales) are added together on next week's Official Albums Chart.

"For Lewis to break the record for pre-adds with his first album is an incredible achievement,” George Ergatoudis, head of Apple Music, UK and Ireland, said. “It is a brilliant body of work and shows the enduring appeal of albums to music fans."

The record's trailer single Someone You Loved is currently the UK's biggest song of the year, on 918,000 combined sales. The track is still currently in the Top 5 on the Official Singles Chart, along with new single Hold Me While You Wait.

The last debut album to shift over 100,000 combined sales in its first week was Rag'n'Bone Man's Human, which opened on 117,101 in February 2017. Stormzy's Gang Signs & Prayer also scored impressive Week 1 combined sales in 2017, opening on 68,594.

great achievement for him in a time where sales are down so much that the record for most albums sold in a calendar year set by NSYNC's No Strings Attached nearly 2 decades ago of 9.94 million sold from 3/21/2000 release to December 30th 2000 an average of 260,600 copies sold per week it was certified diamond on December 1st 2000 reaching 11 x platinum in it's 57th week of release and it held the record for biggest first week until Adele's 25 broke it in November 2015 nearly 16 years later while in it's first five weeks of release 25 sold 8 million copies in the US averaging around 230,000 a week for those weeks
