Kylie Minogue has been announced as the headliner for this year's Brighton Pride.

In news that we can't quite believe hasn't happened before, the superstar tops the bill for her first ever UK Pride performance on August 3.

A tweet from Brighton Pride suggests it will be Kylie classics-only affair, stating Minogue will perform "some of her biggest hits" including - spoiler alert - Better The Devil You Know, Get Outta My Way, On A Night Like This, All The Lovers and Can't Get You Out Of My Head.

"BRIGHTON! It’s happening!" Minogue tweeted. "Can’t wait to celebrate #Pride with you all on August 3rd!". Tickets are on sale now.

Clean Bandit will also perform on August 3, while Grace Jones and Jessie J will take to the stage on August 4.

Britney Spears headlined last year's Brighton Pride, plus there were performances from Pixie Lott, Louise, Mabel, MNEK and Ella Eyre.

Last year saw Minogue score her sixth Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart with Golden, which went on to become the UK's 33rd biggest album of 2018.

Official Charts recently revealed Minogue's 40 biggest singles in the UK - check out the full list here.

Why don't your journalists ever bother to check facts before publishing stories? During the period between the 'Pride Trust' going bankrupt in 1998 and the formation of 'Pride London' in 2004, 'London Mardi Gras' organised the "pride" marches and the festival events afterwards. Granted they didn't use the name Pride but they were recognised as official pride events. History lesson over, Kylie appeared at the event in 2000 when the festival was held at Finsbury Park.
You can play semantics over the name if you must, but the fact is, Kylie appeared at a Pride event and your headline is thus both misleading and wrong. I mention it because Kylie has long been a supporter of LGBTQ+ rights and this headline suggests she hasn't been directly involved until now. She deserves her due for being such an outstanding advocate, even when it was socially and politically frowned upon to ally yourself with the community.
