Kendrick Lamar is the King of this week's Official Trending Chart following the release of his latest studio album.

Kendrick's fourth LP has helped the collection's lead track Humble leap impressively in today's Official Singles Chart Update, a huge upward move that translates to the Number 1 position on the trending tally. The Official Trending Chart is the UK's leading indicator of the freshest tunes making an impact this week, based on movement up the Official Singles Chart.

Another Kendrick track DNA also features; only two songs by the same artist are eligible for the Official Trending Chart, which is why more don't appear on the rundown (the chart's full methodology can be found at the bottom of the page).

More tracks hoping to become the UK's next big hits include Jason Derulo, Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign's Swalla, Disciples' On My Mind, and J Hus' Did You See.

The Official Trending Chart is also a great highlight for emerging singles that have not yet worked their way into the Top 40; including the likes of G-Eazy and Kehlani's Good Life. The song, which features on the soundtrack to the eighth Fast & Furious movie, has risen 60 places on the Official Singles Chart Update - will it crack the Top 40 soon?

Elsewhere, Baby, The Voice Kids UK coach Pixie Lott's new collab with Anton Powers begins to gain momentum, while Royal Blood's Lights Out gets off to a strong start.

Finally, Andra Day's Rise Up makes waves and has gotten the UK's attention following its use on Britain's Got Talent this past weekend.

About the Official Trending Chart

The Official Trending Chart was launched in 2016 to highlight the hottest new tracks beginning to make an impact in the UK every week.

The Top 20 rundown, published on OfficialCharts.com every Tuesday, based on the first four days’ sales of each chart week, is designed to highlight emerging hits as they begin to scale the Official Charts and build buzz.

The Official Trending Chart ranks titles which are showing week-on-week chart growth, and is the only “new music” chart to reflect audio track sales and streams comprehensively across all services.

Devised by the Official Charts Company in close consultation with labels, retailers and media, the chart since launch has highlighted emerging hits such as Number 1 single One Dance by Drake, and The Chainsmokers & Halsey's chart topper Closer.

The chart is designed to help highlight hit singles in their early stages of their growth, in the light of the shift in release strategies of record labels over the past six months. Under “On Air On Sale”, labels have started to release new music for consumers to buy or stream on the same day as those tracks are released to media (including radio stations and TV).

Really hoping Disciples make it into the top 20, such a good song. Cheat Codes new tune is great too, so I'd be incredibly happy if it makes it top 40 either this week or next week.
