Katy Perry's new single Chained To The Rhythm set a new record on Spotify just hours after its release.

The track, which Perry performed at this year's Grammys, notched up more than 3 million streams on Spotify in its first 24 hours, making it the best first day of streaming of a single track by a female artist on the service.

The exact number of plays for the song on Friday, February 10 was 3,062,293.

Chained To The Rhythm serves as the lead single from Perry's upcoming fourth studio album, which is expected to follow later this year. A release date for the collection has yet to be announced.

The song is expected to make a big impact on charts across the world this week, including the Official Singles Chart, where it is on course to land inside the Top 10

Official Charts recently revealed the star's biggest singles in the UK, based on sales and streams. Her best-selling album is 2010's Teenage Dream with an impressive 1.3 million sales to its name.
