Kaiser Chiefs enjoy second week at Number 1

Ricky Wilson and co spend a second week at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart, while Aloe Blacc debuts in the Top 5.

Ricky Wilson and his Kaiser Chiefs bandmates will be celebrating again this evening after securing a second week at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart with Education, Education, Education And War.

The Leeds-based band’s fifth studio album knocked X Factor winner Sam Bailey’s The Power Of Love (which is down five places to Number 7) off the top spot last Sunday to earn themselves the second chart-topping album of their career.

Paloma Faith’s third album, A Perfect Contradiction, has shot back up to Number 2 today. The London-based singer/songwriter has seen a sales surge following her show-stopping performance of her latest single, Can’t Rely On You (which was co-written by Pharrell Williams), on last Saturday’s final of The Voice.

Meanwhile, John Legend’s Love In The Future climbs two places to Number 3 (its highest position to date), and George Michael’s former Number 1 album, Symphonica, spends its fourth consecutive week in the Top 5.

This week’s Top 5 is completed by Aloe Blacc’s Lift Your Spirit (Number 5). The US singer/songwriter’s third album features his recent Number 1 hit, The Man, and an acoustic version of his million-selling collaboration with Avicii, Wake Me Up.

New Entries

In addition to by Aloe Blacc’s Lift Your Spirit (5) there are three other new entries on today’s Official Albums Chart.

Norwegian DJ and producer Todd Terje’s It’s Album Time is new in at Number 23 today, while Black Label Society – the band formed by former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde –are enter at Number 30 with Catacombs Of The Black Vatican.

And finally, British songwriter Sohn’s debut album, Tremors, enters at 31.
