James Arthur's Say You Won't Let Go is living up to its name as it tops this week's Official Singles Chart Update.

Since last Friday at 12am, the lead single from James' upcoming album Back from the Edge has accumulated more combined sales and streams than any other track, logging 35,000 at the midweek stage. Should James hang on to the top spot by Friday, it will be high fourth week at Number 1, and his longest reigning Number 1 hit.

The Chainsmokers' Closer remains unmoved at Number 2, fending off The Weeknd and Daft Punk's Starboy at Number 3. Lifting 13 places to Number 4 is Starving, Hailee Steinfeld and Grey's collaboration with Zedd, closely followed by Calvin Harris' My Way (5).

New entries and high climbers

Bruno Mars' 24K Magic jumps one to Number 8, while Neiked's Sexual feat. Dyo continues to steamroll up the chart; a new position of 11 - up 13 places - is in the Norwegian producer's sights.

Back-to-back new entries are close to entering the Top 10: Maroon 5 and Kendrick Lamar's Don't Wanna Know is at 13, just ahead of Little Mix's Shout Out To My Ex at 14, which was only made available yesterday evening following the girl band's performance on The X Factor.

Further down the tally, The Vamps are poised to be a newcomer at 29 with their Matoma-assisted single All Night. Set to reach the Top 40 for the first time is Fifth Harmony's That's My Girl, a 27-spot climber at Number 30.

Finally, Galantis' Love On Me is a potential Top 40 entrant - the Hook N Sling team-up has risen nine places to Number 35.

Hopefully Little Mix can go to No.1 instead, I've been listening to Shout Out To Me Ex non stop for the past 24 hours, it's so good.

Little Mix AND Fifth Harmony entering? NOOOOOOOOOOO! Good there's set to be numerous new entries but instead of Olly Murs, we get the two worst girlbands on the planet up our arsecracks
