Gotye has reclaimed the Number 1 spot on the Official Singles Chart from DJ Fresh FT Rita Ora as previous chart topper Somebody That I Used To Know FT Kimbra increases sales yet again.

The song today spends its eighth week in the Official Singles Chart, having managed to consistently increase week on week sales every week since its first entry back in January.  Even despite last week’s drop of two places to Number 3, the Australian-Belgian singer bounces back up to the summit again today with its highest sale to date.  The track has notched up nearly 400,000 sales to date this year, and leads this week’s singles league by a clear 25,000 copies.

BRITs Critics’ Choice Award winner Emeli Sande today finishes the singles race for a second week running at Number 2 with Next To Me. Her debut single Heaven also climbs back up 8 places to 27, and her debut album Our Version Of Events is Number 2 on the Official Albums Chart.

Last week’s chart topper DJ Fresh, whose single Hot Right Now FT Rita Ora, last Sunday became the UK’s first ever drum & bass Number 1, lands today at Number 3.

The only other new entry inside the Official Singles Chart Top 40 is Gym Class Heroes FT Neon Hitch with Ass Back Home at Number 9.

Late pop icon Whitney Houston continues to make an impact this week with 11 of her hit singles remaining present in the Top 200.
