Gerry Cinnamon adds spice to the midweek Official Albums Chart, charging out in front in the race to become this week’s UK Number 1 with The Bonny.

The Scottish singer-songwriter leads today’s Official Chart Update with his second studio album, which was the biggest album on all formats (physical, download and streaming) over the weekend.

The Bonny has a lead of 13,000 chart sales at the midweek stage, and would mark Gerry’s first Number 1 album. The Scotsman’s debut album Erratic Cinematic peaked at Number 17 last July, nearly two years after its first release, and could sneak into this Friday’s Top 40; it’s currently at Number 34. St. Albans rockers Enter Shikari are on course for the highest-charting album ever with their sixth studio album Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible at Number 2, while Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien aka EOB is at Number 5 with his debut solo record Earth. Just behind, US rapper DaBaby is on track for his first UK Top 10 with third studio album Blame It On Baby at 6.

UK neo-rock group Marillion’s 1983 debut album Script For A Jester’s Tear peaked at Number 7, and the new reissue could see the album return to the very same slot. After just missing out on the Top 40 last week, Finnish metal band Nightwish could also claim their first UK Top 10 at Number 8 with Human II Nature following its CD release.

Luton rapper Nafe Smallz is heading for a Top 20 debut at 13 with his Goat World mixtape, Elbow’s live album Live at The Ritz could give them an 11th chart appearance at 16, and US singer and pianist Fiona Apple could collect her first Top 40 with Fetch The Bolt Cutters at 17.

Finally, Canadian R&B duo DVSN could score their first UK Top 40 album with third collection A Muse In Her Feelings at 30.
