Gerard Butler disaster movie Geostorm set for DVD chart glory

Michael Fassbender's crime thriller The Snowman is also set to be a high new entry.

Geostorm may be a disaster movie, but it is having the complete opposite of a disaster on the Official Video Chart.

The Gerard Butler epic is leading today's Official Video Chart Update by 2-copies-to-1 after three days on sale. With such a lead, the Dean Devlin directed piece has a strong chance to clinch the Number 1 spot on Sunday's Official Video Chart when the final numbers for the week are in.

Last week's chart topper Blade Runner 2049, a two-week Number 1 slides to Number 2, ahead of Michael Fassbender thriller The Snowman, a new entry at Number 3. Less than 1000 copies separate Numbers 2 and 3, so the race for the runner-up slot could be a photo finish.

Former Official Video Chart Number 1 Kingsman: The Golden Circle slips one position to Number 4, and The LEGO Ninjago Movie, the first of the LEGO Movie franchise to miss the top spot, drops three places to Number 5 at the midweek stage.

New entries and high climbers

Jessica Rothe horror Happy Death Day is just outside the Top 5 at the halfway point in the week (6), while Brimstone starring Guy Pearce and Kit Harington is also set for Top 10 debut at Number 9.

World War II drama Battle of the Bulge is new at Number 13, and finally, Timothy Spall comedy The Party is popping corks at Number 23.
