Congratulations to George Ezra, who claims his first Number 1 on the Official Irish Singles Chart this week with Shotgun.

The track lifts from 4 to Number 1 to dethrone last week’s chart-topper, Clean Bandit’s Solo ft. Demi Lovato.

Shotgun has been a slow burner of a hit on the chart, taking the top spot in its 14th week inside the Top 50. Prior to Shotgun, George’s highest ranking hit in Ireland was Budapest, his worldwide breakthrough hit, which reached Number 4 in 2013.

"I never thought that this would happen," George told OfficialCharts.com. "The thing that’s most amazing about it is the fact that all of you out there are sharing the song and playing it loud and enjoying it with your summer, which is exactly what I wanted. I can’t thank you enough.”

As of next Friday (July 6), the Official Irish Singles Chart will be compiled and published under its new methodology, and will include video streaming data for the first time, amongst a string of other changes. More details can be found here.  The chart is compiled for the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) by the Official Charts Company.

New entries and high climbers

Elsewhere in this week’s Top 10, XXXTentacion’s Sad! reaches a new peak of Number 8, climbing a further five places from last week following his death, and Jess Glynne’s I’ll Be There rebounds from 11 to 9.

Meanwhile, Jonas Blue’s Rise ft. Jack & Jack edges closer to the Top 10, leaping ten places to 14, and Tiesto & Dzeko’s Jackie Chan ft. Preme & Post Malone reaches a new peak, up four to 17.

Further down, there are big climbers for M.O’s Bad Vibe ft. Lotto Boyzz & Mr Eazi, up 18 to 32, Kendrick Lamar & SZA’s All The Stars returns to the Top 40 at 34, up 25 spots, and production duo NOTD land their first Top 40 on the Irish Singles Chart with I Wanna Know ft. Bea Miller, up two to Number 40.
